Robot House’s intent with “Hard Style” was to create a true and diaphanous representation of their unique sound, without resorting to many of the technological “advances” that are so prevalent in today’s music industry and so prone to sucking the soul out of great tunes. Cut live to tape over a two day stretch with minimal overdubbing and using mostly late 70’s era amps and equipment, “Hard Style” is raw, rocking and drenched in warm analogue goodness, capturing the boys at their best. With eleven songs clocking in at around 45 minutes, “Hard Style” is chock full of catchy hooks, balls-to-the-wall guitar solos, devastating bass riffs and disgusting, hard hitting drumming. Covering a wide range of styles, “Hard Style” has everything from Robot House blasting through the 70s punk influenced “Sniffing Glue” to the put-your-dancing-shoes on bounce of “Days That Went for Weeks” to the pure pop ear worm that is “Where Did You Come From?”. Give it a spin and chances are that at least one of the eleven tunes will end up stuck in your head all week.
